Homer Rec. Department Hopes Ice Rink Will Open on Dec. 20th

The Village of Homer Recreation Department, with the assistance of the DPW, have begun to assemble the ice rink for this winter season in the Village of Homer. The ice rink was relocated to the basketball courts behind the Rec. Department building next to the Homer Fire Station.

The rec. department says the steps to building the ice rink started yesterday with the removal of snow. They will then apply water and a few “behind the scenes” logistics to ensure it’s ready to go.

An anticipated opening date for the ice rink is Saturday, December 20th.

The ice rink moved to its new home last year from the Village Green. The move was for several factors including a level surface on the basketball courts, better formation of ice, lighting, and a secure area to avoid vandalism.

Updates on the ice rink will be available on the rec. Departments Facebook page, Village of Homer Recreation Department.
