Homer Police Raising Awareness During Autism Awareness Month – Raising Funds For Puzzle Solvers
Officers with the Homer Police Department will once again wear Autism Awareness patches or pins on their uniforms during the month of April. April is Autism Awareness month and Homer Police say they are honored to support and promote understanding and acceptance of people on the autism spectrum.
The department will also continue their patch fundraiser. Homer Police will be selling Homer Police Autism Awareness patches with a minimal donation of $5 being asked for the patch. The proceeds will go to Puzzle Solvers, a local non-profit organization that provides resources for families and individuals with autism.
Homer Police is also reminding residents the department has been provided Autism Awareness stickers for residences and vehicles from Proud Moments. These stickers are placed in windows of homes or vehicles to alert first responders that someone in the house or in the vehicle is Autistic.
