Homer Police Investigate String of Thefts from Unlocked Vehicles

Authorities are currently investigating a string of larcenies that occurred late Tuesday night into early yesterday morning (July 19-20) on Elm Avenue, James Street and Cayuga Street in the village of Homer.

According to officers with the Homer Police Department, change and other items were stolen from several unlocked vehicles in the area.

Residents are reminded to always lock the doors to their vehicles, as well as to their residences, garages and sheds.

Police are also requesting anyone with exterior security cameras to check their systems during the time frame of these incidents to
determine if they may have recorded anyone that may help them identity those responsible.

Similar incidents have recently occurred in the Village of McGraw and Virgil, which are being investigated by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
