Homer Police Arrest Erratic Drunk Driver – Open Container of Alcohol Found in Vehicle

Around 8:45 in the morning on Sunday, January 28th, Homer Police responded to the area of Clinton Street and Route 281 within the Village after a call came into Cortland County 9-1-1 dispatch of a reported erratic driver who was possibly intoxicated.


Officers were able to locate the vehicle traveling northbound on Route 281 and conducted a traffic stop on Clinton Street. During the investigation into the complaint, officers were able to determine the operator of the vehicle, 22 year old Eduardo Herrera-Hernandez of Homer, was driving drunk. Homer Police also observed that Hernandez had an open container of an alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with DWI, Speed in Zone, Failure to Keep Right, Failure to Dim Headlights and Open Container of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle. Hernandez was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing where he was later released on traffic tickets and is expected to appear in Homer Town Court next month.
