Homer Mayor Clune Says Town of Cortlandville “Zeroed Out” Their Contract With Village Rec. Department

In unfortunate news, Homer Mayor Pat Clune informed the Board of Trustees during their meeting Tuesday night that the Town of Cortlandville has “zeroed out” their contract with the Village of Homer Recreation Department. Clune noted the town had also done the same with the City of Cortland, Village of McGraw, and the Cortland Regional Sports Council.

“Andrew and I went down last week to present why we should have our contract fully funded and they are not doing it.” Mayor Clune told the Trustees referring to a recent meeting with the town during their budget meetings. “They have zeroed out their rec. Monies for those contracts.”

The Town of Cortlandville contributes about $36,000 to the village’s recreation department as kids who live in the town participate in village recreational activities. Clune noted a whole breakdown of where the money goes was provided adding it is similar to what the Town of Homer contributes. Clune added the Town of Homer will fulfill their contract.

“We will have to figure out what the full price is for those in that area.” Clune noted when mentioning what the cost will now be for Cortlandville residents interested in participating in village recreational activities.

“I will say this, the Town of Cortlandville was equal across the board because they canceled not only us, but their city, McGraw, and the CRSC [contracts]. So we will make our adjustments, we’re early in our [budget] process. So we will adjust.” Clune said.
