Homer Police say 29-year old Derek Beckwith was arrested again Tuesday morning after attempting to flee from their custody for the second time.

After being arraigned in Homer Court Tuesday for running from police on August 25, Beckwith broke free from the officer who escorted him out and escaped on foot.

Police then set up a perimeter in the area with K-9 units from the Cortland County Sheriffs office and other police departments, but they could not locate Beckwith at the scene.

Police later responded to a call that Beckwith had been seen walking on Center Street near South West St in Homer.

Upon seeing officers, Beckwith again attempted to escape through back yards but was eventually caught and arrested outside his home on 18 Cherry St.

He was again arraigned and remanded to Cortland County Jail.
