Homer Football is on to the second round of playoffs — and one step closer to a Section III Class B title.
Coach Gary Podsiedlik’s Trojans hosted Central Valley Academy at Butts Field on Friday (Oct. 29), rolling to a 30-13 victory behind a stellar performance from Junior RB Sam Sorenson.
He scored all four touchdowns for Homer, rushing for 193 yards on 23 carries. Sorenson also had 8 tackles, matching Tyler Riehman for the team-high in the game. Senior David Morse added 82 yards on 13 carries.
The win continues an undefeated season for Homer (7-0).
Next up: Another home contest against Vernon-Verona Sherill in the Class B quarterfinal.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm this Friday (November 5), broadcasting live once again on WXHC.
If the Trojans are victorious, they would face the winner of another quarterfinal matchup Friday between New Hartford (7-0) and Institute of Technology Central (5-3).
Championship games will be Saturday, November 13 at the Carrier Dome, with Class B starting at 3 pm.
