Homer Fire Responds to Shed Fire On Kinney Gulf Road

Around 12:50 in the morning on Wednesday, September 20th, a 9-1-1 call came in for a reported structure fire in the 4000 block of Kinney Gulf Road. A neighbor reported seeing flames coming from a structure nearby their property.

Homer Fire was dispatched to the scene of the fire. Arriving units found an outbuilding that was well off the road behind a residence to be fully involved. Due to the distance from the road and the proximity to a pond nearby, Homer Fire brought in a portable pump to the scene.

Firefighters used the pump to extract water from the pond to extinguish the fire. An investigation afterwards found the fire began accidentally. No injuries were reported.

Assisting the Homer Fire Department was the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cortlandville Fire Department. Both TLC Ambulance and Preble Fire were originally called to the scene, but were returned shortly after the call.
