Homer Fire Knocks Out Brush Fire in Town of Scott
The Homer Fire Department was dispatched to a brush fire on Brown Hill Road in the Town of Scott on Wednesday afternoon just after 4pm. Homer Fire says the brush fire was spotted early enough before it grew out of control. The early catch of the fire, along with a quick response by the fire department, limited the spread.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the brush fire within 15 minutes. All units were back in service before 5 that evening. The Homer Fire Department is reminding all residents the state-wide burn ban is now in effect through May 15th. Yesterday’s weather conditions, with Cortland County in a Red Flag Warning by the National Weather Service, could’ve had the fire spread rapidly due to winds, and dry/dead vegetation on the ground.
