Homer Fire Department Conducts FAST Training

The Homer Fire Department conducted FAST Training last week at the Homer Fire Station, the department announced The training is specialized for firefighters to become part of a FAST Team. A FAST Team (Firefighter Assist and Search Team) responds to structure fire calls.

The focus of the team is on rescuing downed and trapped firefighters during a fire. The department says there are multiple members already FAST certified and the training is a refresher course. In Cortland County, there is currently only one FAST team from the Cortlandville Fire Department.

Homer Fire says their department continues to build up their FAST capabilities to then be able to provide support to the Cortlandville Fire Department and the County.
