The Homer Fire Department is participating in a Recruitment Open House Saturday and Sunday 10 AM-2 PM along with various departments from across New York State.
Homer FD will be serving lunch during that time as well as having members on hand to speak with attendees interested in joining their volunteer ranks.
“Anyone that has any interest in joining the fire department, please stop by. We’re always looking for new members. There’s a role for anyone in the fire service. So please stop by, enjoy a free lunch at least and learn about the fire department in your community.” Homer Fire Department Lieutenant Cody Johnson said to X101.
Those different roles include firefighting, medical, fire police for traffic control, and drivers. All training is free and can typically help gain New York or National Certifications.
