At last night’s Cortland County Planning Board meeting, a proposal to build a new Dollar General at 5 North West Street in Homer was tabled until more information is provided by the applicant.
A unanimous motion delayed the project until Griffiths Engineering and associated partners can address a variety of issues more clearly.
These include rezoning and possibly subdividing the property, which is located adjacent to Riverside Auto Sales.
The board also asked for more information on how the driveway will be designed so that deliveries and other store traffic don’t interfere with or disturb nearby residential neighborhoods.
It further recommends the installation of buffer zones for purposes of both property separation and aesthetics.
County planners agreed with those in the village who have said there needs to be more parking spaces.
Future meetings were not confirmed, but are likely to come when the contractors fulfill these information requests.
Meanwhile, a brand-new Dollar General opened yesterday in Cincinnatus, located at 2717 NY Highway 26.
The store is expected to employ approximately six to 10 people, operating seven days a week from 8 am to 10 pm.
Additional information can be found on their website.
