Homer & Cortland Police Chiefs Participate in National Wreaths Across America Day – Visit Veterans Hospital to Bring Donated Clothing From Homer Men & Boys
On Saturday, December 15th, Homer Police Chief Pitman and City of Cortland Police Chief Guerrera, both of whom are members of the Central New York Chiefs of Police Association, joined military personnel, other members of law enforcement, and volunteers at the Veterans Cemetery on Onondaga Hill for National Wreaths Across America Day.
The veterans cemetery was one of over 4,800 locations who had members of the community come together to honor those who have served and remember their sacrifices for this country. Volunteers at the cemetery placed veteran’s wreaths and then said the name of the veteran whose grave the wreath was placed on.

Homer Police Chief Pitman told X101 News after the ceremony that he, Chief Guerrera and other members of law enforcement visited the VA Hospital in Downtown Syracuse with clothing that was donated for the veterans by Homer Men and Boys.
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization that places wreaths at the graves of veterans. More information may be found on their website, HERE.
