The initial work for Homer Central Schools capital project at the Elementary and Intermediate/Junior High School has begun, the school announced.
With this, both the elementary and Intermediate/Junior High School will be closed for the summer as construction crews work with an anticipated completion date before school begins in the fall.
Homer Schools is asking everyone to not use any district grounds at the two locations mentioned above to avoid any potential injury due to the construction zone.
Back in December of 2022, voters approved the district’s Capital Project with a final tally of 257-18. The project includes rework of the school parking lots, interior renovations, and security improvements. The total cost for the capital project for all three buildings, the high school has yet to begin construction, is $24 million dollars.
