The Homer Central School District has announced an upcoming workshop taking place next week on Wednesday, February 7th from 5 to 7pm. The workshop, titled Post-Secondary Healthcare: Planning for the physical & mental health of your adult child, aims to help parents help take care of their child’s physical and mental health once they turn 18.

The workshop will review how physical and mental health looks different both legally and in practice once their child turns 18 years of age. A panel of local practitioners will participate in the workshop and will present a variety of physical and mental health topics that both parents and students should both begin considering as they transition to adulthood.

The workshop will be an interactive one with the session addressing specific questions and concerns from those in attendance in addition to the planned presentations offered by the panelists.

The panel of local practitioners include:

  • Jennifer Talarico, LMHC, Senior Counselor at SUNY Cortland Counseling and Wellness Service
  • Karen Dudgeon, LCSW, Local private practitioner
  • Alicia Maroney, LCSW, Homer Center School District Family & Community Liaison
  • Susan Williams, LCSW, Homer Center School District Family & Community Liaison

This workshop is aimed towards graduating high school seniors, current juniors, and/or their parents/guardians, but is open to the general public. You can learn more about the upcoming workshop by visiting HomerCentral.org/community. To register for the workshop, click HERE.
