Homer Central Schools Announces Early Dismissals For Tuesday and Thursday Due to Dangerous Heat – Regents Remain on Schedule in AC Spaces

Homer Central Schools has announced early dismissal days for Tuesday, June 18th and Thursday, June 20th, due to the dangerous temperatures predicted by the National Weather Service. Students are off from school on Wednesday, June 19th for Juneteenth.


For Tuesday, Homer Schools will have a shortened instructional day for Pre K to 8th grade. Lunch will still be provided before dismissal.

  • Elementary Dismissal Walkers at 12:05 p.m.; Bussers to follow
  • Intermediate Dismissal Walkers at 12:05 p.m.; Bussers to follow
  • Junior High Dismissal 11 a.m.
  • High School Regents as scheduled…utilizing air conditioned spaces.

Thursday, June 20th, will also have a shortened instructional day for grades Pre K to 8th. Again lunch will be provided prior to dismissal.

  • Elementary Dismissal Walkers at 12:05 p.m.; Bussers to follow
  • Intermediate Dismissal Walkers at 12:05 p.m.; Bussers to follow
  • Junior High Dismissal 11 a.m.
  • High School Regents as scheduled…utilizing air conditioned spaces.

Friday, June 21st, which is the last day of school for students Pre K to 8th grade, will be a full day of attendance. Homer Schools says if the situation continues to worsen for high temperatures, a change in scheduling will occur.
