Homer Center for the Arts Hosting Community Brainstorming Session

As part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative, the Homer Center for the Arts is inviting members of the community to a brainstorming session to discuss what to do with the recently acquired Little White Church. The Center for the Arts is leading the restoration of the Little White Church on the Village Green, but wants to hear the community’s thoughts, ideas, and suggestions for programs, uses, and the potential for a new name.

“We’re looking forward to hearing about all the creative ideas our community brings to the table,” said Ty Marshal, Executive Director at the Center for the Arts of Homer. “We are not seeking to make a “Center for the Arts Number Two” but instead a new place for our community to congregate, express themselves, learn something new, or take in a performance in one of the oldest buildings on the Village Green.”

The first brainstorming session will be held on Thursday, September 19th at 7:00 pm and will be open for all to attend. It will include an explanation of the restoration goals, as well as a construction timeline, and end with an open comment period to share thoughts and ideas.

“I’m looking forward to sharing a progress report with the community; where we stand and what comes next.  It will also be good to hear what the people want from this future community space to help guide us in the restoration process.”

Said Facilities Director at the Center for the Arts, Matthew Fendya.
