Homer Board of Trustees Announce Two Public Hearings For Next Meeting – Announce Naming of Linear Park
The Village of Homer Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hold two public hearings for their next meeting this month on October 28th at 6pm at the Homer Town Hall. The first will be in regards to the village’s intent to apply for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for a new water tank at the Newton Water Works. The village looks to apply for up to $2 million in CDBG funding.
The second public hearing is in regards to the village’s continued commitment to being a climate smart community and to maintain Homer’s Bronze Status within the state. The village originally adopted the state’s Climate Smart Communities Pledge back in 2018. With this, the village has worked on making proactive steps in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The village will work to again implement a climate smart community task force and also appoint a climate smart community coordinator, something that they have done in the past.
Both public hearings will take place prior to the Board of Trustees regular meeting on Tuesday, October 28th at 6pm.
Also during the meeting, Homer Mayor Pat Clune provided a positive update on the progress of the Linear Park on Homer Ave. Mayor Clune says from now on, it will no longer be called the Linear Park, but named after the Hage’s. Clune says their support for the project, including monetary, helped it move forward. Clune added the village has been reimbursed by the state for phase 1 of the project and now the village may move forward with phase two, which is the design and the construction of the park, which will now be called Hage Riverwalk Park. The mayor expressed his thanks to Jason and Neb Hage.
