Meet Cortland County, On Demand, What We're Talking About

Homer Athletic Director Todd Lisi joined WXHC on this mornings weekly Meet Cortland County segment for a discussion on the latest updates regarding high school sports.

After a year cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, schedules are currently set as normal for the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons, but Lisi said adjustments will be made should the state decide to issue further recommendations.

Fall registrations at Homer started last week and Lisi says the first week saw around 130 sign-ups from 7-12th graders.

“That could be a record,” Lisi said. “You don’t typically see those kind of numbers in just five days. I think what we’re seeing is that our kids miss school, they miss being part of a classroom and they miss being part of a team.”

The first Fall sports practices are tentatively set for August 24.
