Homeless Man Breaks Into Motel Room in Cortlandville

Officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Cortland Motel at 3832 Route 11 in Cortlandville just before 12:30 in the morning on Monday, April 7th. Officers were responding to a trespassing complaint.

During their investigation, officers determined 35 year old James D. Wright, who is listed as homeless, had unlawfully entered one of the motel rooms by forcibly opening the door to the room. Wright was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass in the 2nd, and Criminal Mischief in the 4th, both Misdemeanors.

He was taken to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing and was later released on appearance tickets. Wright is due in Cortlandville Town Court later this month.
