Gov. Kathy Hochul delivered the closing remarks of New York’s first ever Summit on Youth Mental Health.
The gathering convened leaders, experts and youth themselves to discuss findings discovered in the Youth Listening Tour summary report. Based on those findings and discussions held at the Summit on Youth Mental Health, several recommendations from young people emerged. That included investing in community-based resources for recreation and mental wellness promotion as well as increased mental health resources that are free or low cost, confidential, respectful, and culturally competent.
In her closing remarks, Hochul said those recommendations would continue beyond the Summit and all decisions would guarantee a positive outcome for the youth.
