Yesterday, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced New York State has been awarded $2.7 million in Reach and Resiliency grant funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to help expand the Emergency Food Assistance Program’s reach in remote, rural, tribal and low-income communities.

“We have a moral obligation to break down the logistic and stigmatic barriers that block access to nutritious, culturally-relevant food for those who need it the most,” Governor Hochul said.

The grant is part of the USDA’s Build Back Better initiative to help support and expand the country’s emergency food network. This will help food banks and local organizations serve their communities better.
