Some hungry friends will be spending the summer at SUNY Cortland, eating the grass around the solar panels on Stratton Drive.
Six 1-year-old rams from Highland Solar Grazers in Tompkins County will contribute significantly to the university’s commitment to sustainability.
Each acre of grazed land — as opposed to mowing — saves approximately one metric ton of carbon from entering the atmosphere.
The rams are provided water, but they get most of their hydration through grazing. They use the solar panels for both shade and shelter.
