Helen Ave. to Close Starting 8am Tomorrow – Work on Main Street Gets Underway

Crown City Rising reports Helen Ave. in the City of Cortland will be closed beginning at 8am tomorrow, Tuesday April 30th. The closure is expected to last until around noon.

Reasoning for the closure is to install a new storm sewer line. The closure connects to the already established Groton Ave. detour, Crown City Rising says. Motorists should plan accordingly if planning to travel in the area.

Work on Main Street is continuing to move full swing in order to meet the expected completion time frame by Labor Day this year. CCI Construction will resume their work of storm drainage on Court Street between Main and Church Street.

Work on Court Street will limit available parking. No parking will be permitted on the northside of the street between the hours of 7am and 5pm. Court Street will remain open to traffic with alternating land closures.

Vault work continues at 33 Main Street, the location of NY Bagel (who are still open during the work). Additionally beginning today (April 29) will be storm sewer work in the alleyway between 10 Main Street (Community Restaurant) and 16 Main Street (former Pawn Boss location). Parking will also be restricted between 7am and 5pm between 10 and 16 Main Street.
