Heart’s Ann Wilson Stretches Solo Trek Through Summer

Music News

Heart’s Ann Wilson has just added 23 new dates to her ongoing solo trek, with shows now stretching through to July. Wilson plays tonight (March 29th) in Alexandria, Virginia at The Birchmere. Although Wilson does tackle such Heart classics as “Crazy On You,” “Barracuda,” “Alone,” and “What About Love” in concert, her set is primarily made up of covers — including the Who’s The Real Me,” Yes’ “I’ve Seen All Good People,” the Black Crowes’ “She Talks To Angels,” Peter Gabriel’s “Don’t Give Up,” and the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s “Manic Depression,” among others.

Ann Wilson told us that it’s a mixed blessing going out on the road without the big Heart machine: “No matter how much, y’know, I talk about this beforehand and I say, ‘Well, y’know, this is not Heart — I am gonna do some songs — but it’s not the old thing, y’know?’ People will come and go, “Hey, y’know, where’s ‘Magic Man?’ (Laughs) So, yeah, I do have to walk a line just enough and not too much to keep myself really inspired.”
