Health Department Alerting Residents of Kid’s Helmet Recall
The Cortland County Health Department is making the public aware of a recall of children’s and youth size helmets. The recall affects the Outdoor Master brand including the models OM-TD- BIKE and OM-KSKB. The health department says the recall is due to the products failing to meet mandatory bicycle-helmet safety standards.
According to the health department, the helmets do not comply with crucial positional stability and coverage requirements. This issue could result in the helmets failing to protect the head adequately in a crash, which could lead to serious injury and/or death.
The helmets have not been distributed by the health department in previous events. Residents who do need replacement helmets are asked to contact the CCHD Injury Prevention and Traffic Safety Program at (607) 758-5523 or via email, JHillman@CortlandCountyNY.gov.
