Halloween Parade & Homer Oktoberfest Celebrations Announced by Rec. Department
The Village of Homer Recreation Department has announced both their annual Halloween Parade and 2nd annual Oktoberfest for Saturday, October 25th in the Village of Homer. The Halloween Parade will begin at the Homer Town Hall.
Those interested in participating in the parade are asked to arrive at the town hall at 4:45pm. The parade will begin at 5:15pm and go from the town hall to the village basketball courts, the Rec Department says. After the parade, there will be a Halloween kid zone at the basketball courts next to the Homer Fire Department until 7:30pm. There will also be costume judging and bounce houses on the basketball courts. This is now the third year for the parade.
Homer’s Oktoberfest will run from 5 to 8pm at the Community Building with live Polka Music by The Steam Boiler Works. Recreation Director Andrew Pierce said during Tuesday’s Homer Board of Trustees meeting that the band reached out to him and will be no charge to play. Homer’s Oktoberfest is now in its second year and has been slowly growing, Pierce added.
The Homer Recreation Department says there will be plenty of beer, brats and more! Supporting the event are the Homer Police and Fire Departments, Homer American Legion, and Homer Hops.
The Village of Homer Board of Trustees unanimously voted to approve the upcoming festival during their Tuesday meeting.
