
Guthrie Welcomes 52 Brand-New Nurse Residents Across Its Five Hospitals, Including Cortland
Local News July 26, 2019Guthrie Clinic yesterday (July 25) welcomed 52 brand new Nurse Residents across its five Guthrie hospitals, the largest group of Nurse Residents in Guthrie history and the first group from Guthrie Cortland Medical Center to participate in the entire Nurse Residency experience.
The Nurse Residency program is an evidenced-based approach to transitioning student nurses into professional Registered Nurses.
The following prospective nurses will now undergo their residency at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center:

Each Resident will now explore different clinical areas for the first twelve weeks of the program, ending with a permanent match as a staff nurse in one of the units they explored.
From there, they’ll continue into a precept orientation on that unit, where they’ll develop into a fully functional member of the team.
They’ll also participate in the Continuing Orientation in Nursing (COIN) program: Nine interactive days of simulation, skills development, team building and professional development activities that will span over their first twelve months of practice.
