The Guthrie Community Benefit Grant Program recently awarded multiple grants to help support community health in the regions Guthrie Serves.
For the Cortland Area Guthrie awarded $1,000 to the Cortland YMCA to support the purchase of two Community Supported Agriculture vegetable shares each week for the summer camp they hold from Main Street Farms.
“Guthrie’s Community Benefit Grant Program funds projects based on Guthrie’s Community Health Needs Assessment. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), requires non-profit hospitals to complete a community needs assessment (CHNA) every three years. The following areas of need were identified for 2020-2022: obesity, access to mental health providers, and cancer incidence with a focus on tobacco usage.” Guthrie Stated in a press release.
Other awardees were the Family and Children’s Service of Ithaca, and the Tioga County Partnership for Community Health.
