Guthrie Experiencing Phone, Internet Disruptions; Elective Cortland Surgeries Canceled Wednesday

The Guthrie Clinic continues to experience disruptions to its internet and phone systems, with the health system’s Information Technology team working to restore service.

Guthrie said Tuesday evening that there is no reason to believe the disruptions are related to a cyber event.

Despite the disruptions, Guthrie’s locations remain open and are welcoming patients. However, patients may be unable to reach some Guthrie locations by phone.

Guthrie announced that elective surgeries scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center have been canceled because of the ongoing disruptions.

Elective surgeries at Guthrie’s Corning, Robert Packer, Lourdes and Troy hospitals, as well as the Big Flats same-day surgery center, have also been canceled for Wednesday.

Guthrie clinics will make every effort to see patients who arrive for appointments Wednesday.

For critical needs, patients may contact the Guthrie Sayre switchboard at 800-700-5858.

Guthrie emphasized that patient safety remains its top priority and said its emergency departments remain open. Patients experiencing an emergency should not avoid seeking care because of the phone and internet disruptions.
