Guthrie Cortland Medical Center Recognized For Maternity Care by US News & World Report
Guthrie Cortland Medical Center has been nationally recognized by US News & World Reports 2025 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care with the highest possible rating of “High Performing.” The High Performing rating is given for well above averages on a variety of objective quality measures.
Those measures include the rates of unexpected complications, C-sections, and exclusive breast milk feeding. Guthrie Cortland was additionally recognized as a Maternity Access Hospital. This recognition means Guthrie provides care in an area that would otherwise be considered a maternity desert.
“Mothers and families in rural communities need assurance they can receive the high-quality care they deserve during the most cherished moments of their lives,” said J. Manuel Arreguin, MD, MBA, FACOG, Obstetrics and Gynecology System and Department Chair, The Guthrie Clinic. “This recognition is evidence that when mothers in Cortland and the surrounding communities choose us for their care, they can take comfort in knowing their newest family member will be cared for like one of our own.”
Guthrie Cortland Medical Center was one of 817 hospitals by US News with only 75 earning both Maternity Access Hospital award and High Performing rating.
