The Guthrie Cortland Medical Center has announced the launch of the Community Food Drive and urges residents in the community to join Guthrie Cortland for their holiday food and hygiene drive.

“The best possible health outcomes begin with self-care at home,” said Jennifer Yartym, SVP, Guthrie Cortland Medical Center President. “But we are not blind to the fact that many of our neighbors lack access to the basic nutritional needs many of us take for granted.”

Starting today, December 1st and going through December 15th, Guthrie Cortland will be accepting donations. Donations can be given to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center and their off-site offices throughout Cortland.

Items being requested to be donated include non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products or common household items, including paper towels and toilet paper. Donations of pet food for dogs or cats is also accepted.

Foods that include dairy products or can spoil won’t be accepted, but for those wishing to donate fresh food Guthrie recommends visiting the Seven Valleys Health Coalition Food Rescue.

Once the donation drive ends, all donated items will be given to Seven Valleys, who will ensure they go to community members in need.
