Guthrie Cortland Medical Center held a community food drive during the month of December from Dec. 1st through the 19th. GCMC partnered with the Seven Valleys Health Coalition in the fight to end food insecurity.

Donations that were made included food, hygiene, and other household items. In total, more than 1,400 pounds of food was donated. Seven Valleys says this equals approximately 1,700 meals for those in need in the community.

“At Guthrie, we believe we have a responsibility to our community neighbors,” said Jennifer Yartym, SVP, Guthrie Cortland Medical Center President. “Their health is our top priority, whether it’s inside our hospital walls or at their dinner table.”

Collection bins were located in the lobby of GCMC with all donated items delivered to SVHC for distribution to families in the Cortland area. The donations will support eight county feeding programs.
