Guthrie Clinic Recognized For Their Commitment to Physician Well-Being
The Guthrie Clinic says they have been nationally recognized from the American Medical Association (AMA) in their 2025 Joy in Medicine. Guthrie received a bronze level recognition, which they say, honors their deep commitment to the well-being of their physicians and care teams.
“This recognition from the AMA is a powerful affirmation of our commitment to our physicians,” said Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, President and CEO of The Guthrie Clinic. “Our physicians are critical to the ability of Guthrie to provide exceptional patient care. When our physicians can find joy in their work and thrive both professionally and personally, our patients and communities benefit. This honor is a direct reflection of our investment in our most valuable resource: our people.“
Guthrie says the award from the nation’s leading physicians’ association recognized 109 of over 395 health systems throughout the country which are at the forefront of the movement to combat burnout and reenergize the practice of medicine. Guthrie added that physician burnout remains a critical challenge across health care. Even with the burnout rate declining from its peak in 2021, at 62.8%, Guthrie says it still remains high.
The recognition from AMA to Guthrie was part of 109 other health systems who earned the two year recognition for their documented efforts in creating a culture of support and reduce the drivers of burnout.
