Gusty Winds Return Tonight – Wind Advisory Issued

The gusty winds we’ve seen earlier this week will return tonight for our area. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton has issued a Wind Advisory beginning at 7pm tonight until 2am Saturday. The advisory is for a majority of Central New York and the Southern Tier, including Cortland and Tompkins Counties.

Winds will come from the southeast between 25 to 35 mph with occasional gusts up to 55 mph. The NWS says the gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down. Power outages are possible.

The strongest winds will be in higher elevations and along north and west facing slopes.
