A Groton man will spend four years in state prison for attempting to sexually abuse a 13-year-old girl.
67-year-old Howard Leonard was convicted of attempted sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child last month in Tompkins County Court. The jury deadlocked on an additional charge of sex abuse.
The charges stemmed from an incident in early 2014. Leonard is also accused of sexually abusing a girl in the Cortland County Town of Freetown. He was found guilty of endangering a third 16-year-old girl back in 2009 after sending sexually explicit pictures to her.
Leonard faces five years of post-release supervision upon his release and will have to register as a sex offender.
