Groton Ave. Roadwork Expected To Begin Monday

Road work on Groton Ave. between Main Street and Homer Ave. is expected to begin this Monday, September 25th. With this, signage will be in place for motorists for detours that will be in place during the work. Road work will take place from 7:30am to 4 o’clock, with Groton Ave. reopening to traffic both ways.

Deputy Superintendent of the City of Cortland Department of Public Works, Bill Lund told X101 News work was expected to begin this week, but was delayed due to an internal delay with the contractor hired for the work.

Lund continued to say that materials for the project will be staged at both Parker School and the former Byrne Dairy convenience store. The street will be only open for businesses and local residents during the day.

Work on Groton Ave. will be a thorough job, with replacement of water and sewer lines beneath the street, new curbing, lighting, and traffic signals. Updates on the project will be available at CrownCityRising.com.
