Greek Peak’s Annual Donation Day Raises $16,650 For Local Food Pantry
Greek Peak Mountain Resort says this year’s annual Donation Day has been deemed a success. The resort holds their annual Donation Day on Christmas Eve which brings in thousands of skiers and snowboarders to the mountain for a great cause during the holiday season. Money raised during Donation Day goes locally to the Virgil United Methodist Church’s food pantry.
During the day, lift tickets are reduced to $15 for the day to encourage skiers and snowboarders to visit. Proceeds this year netted $16,650 for the food pantry. This year’s total was a 25% increase when compared to last year.
“I’m told that our annual Donation Day brings a good portion of the church’s annual food pantry budget,” Wes Kryger, President of Greek Peak Mountain Resort said. “With the great snow conditions, being Christmas Eve, and the huge crowds, everything really aligned perfectly this year to maximize the donation.”
Greek Peak says this year’s record turn-out was due to the great conditions for skiing including cold temperatures and natural snowfall. A mountain favorite, Chair 5, was even opened recently thanks in part to the natural snowfall Greek Peak has received for December so far. The opening of Chair 5 meant all lifts were fully operational for Christmas week.
“Let’s hope the weather keeps cooperating like this because when we get crowds like this for Donation Day, it’s a win for everyone.”
