John Harrison: Good morning everybody, welcome back to another edition of Peak at the Peak. It’s John Harrison back in the studio with Jon Spaulding on the line as always. Jon, hey thanks so much for calling in from, uh, Greek Peak. How’s it going up there?
Jon Spaulding: Things are going great, John. Beautiful sunny weather we have out here, uh, today. And it’s been great all week, and because of that, we’re seeing the crowd start to come out and, especially those who enjoy, uh, the outdoors, uh, they’re really taking advantage of all the great, uh, features and amenities that we have out here at Greek.
John Harrison: Oh yeah, for sure. And, uh, well, Jon, I mean you know that, uh, you know, our last, uh, Peak at the Peak I had to miss because I was, I was on vacation enjoying the sun down in Florida, and I’m just itching to, you know, get, get some more, some more rays on the skin and, uh, some more outside time. So what’s going on up at, uh, Greek Peak this weekend? You know, anything, anything great happening Saturday for, for me to come check out?
Jon Spaulding: Yeah, absolutely. So first of all, thanks for bringing back the nice, uh, weather with you from Florida. I think that that’s great. But yeah, uh, open, opening this Saturday, uh, a, a favorite of people, uh, around Greek Peak and in the area, our aerial ropes course is opening. So I would encourage everybody to go to greekpeak.net and get your self set up with a, you know, a time to come out and enjoy the, uh, ropes course. You can get up as high as, you know, 30, 40 feet up there. Um, just a great experience, and if you haven’t done it yet, it’s, uh, certainly an affordable way to get outside and have a great time with, uh, the family or, you know, just a couple friends.
John Harrison: Yeah, I’ll have to come down and check it out. I’ve done a couple of ropes courses, uh, you know, back in my day. So it’ll be good to, uh, get up there and, and check out, uh, Greek Peak’s because I, you know, I imagine it’s a, it’s beautiful up there. I mean, you know, even just getting to be, like you said, 40, 50 feet up there, getting a great view of the surrounding area of the lodge and the lake and everything.
Jon Spaulding: Absolutely.
John Harrison: Yeah. Uh, now Jon, you know, something you, you might not know about me. Back in the day, I was known to play quite a bit of frisbee. Did a lot of ultimate frisbee back in high school and college, and, uh, you know, my brother still plays for, for a couple of teams. We’ve been getting really into disc golf recently, you know, anytime we hang out, that’s kind of been something we do a little bit more leisurely and, uh, and, and easygoing. And I understand Greek Peak’s got a, a disc golf, uh, course set up.
Jon Spaulding: Oh yeah, definitely a hot sport. We’ve had our, our disc golf course, uh, for, you know, three years now and it just keeps getting better. In fact, it’s going to be featured in a Udisc article coming out, uh, today or tomorrow. Uh, but we’ll definitely share that on social media. The, uh, disc golf course at Hope Lake is a favorite, uh, among, uh, Central New York, uh, disc golf players. It’s rated very high on Udisc, and I think that that’s the reason why they did the story. But really great course, um, unique because it has different eye levels and it go, and it goes all the way around the lake. But, uh, because it’s been doing so well and there’s been so much popularity and people coming out, we’re actually opening another nine-hole disc golf course, Creekside, over by the Adventure Center, and that’s going to open, I believe, on, uh, June 20th. So,
John Harrison: Wow. All right.
Jon Spaulding: We got lots of land out here, lots of ways to play, uh, disc golf. And if you, if you’re, uh, new at it, that’s great. If you’re a ultimate frisbee guy like yourself who’s a practically a pro and you want to come out and bang some chains here, this is the place to do it, so.
John Harrison: Yeah, all right. Well yeah, I mean, my, my brother’s coming to town in, in just a couple of weeks, so we’ll, we’ll make sure to come on up to, to Greek Peak, check out the, uh, the course. And yeah, it’s really exciting you guys are getting that, that article in, in Udisc. That’ll be, uh, really cool. People have to, have to look out for that. Check on the, uh, the Greek Peak socials and everything.
Jon Spaulding: And you’ll have to check out the, uh, disc baskets, which, uh, are, are recently sponsored by a new partner of ours, Lake House Cannabis. They’re, uh, the, they came out last week, um, for, uh, an employee outing and had a great time playing disc golf, and the baskets look great. And we’re just really excited that it’s getting a lot of attention and people are, are looking to, uh, be a part of it.
John Harrison: Yeah, it’s very exciting. Uh, well Jon, you know, we’re, we’re, uh, running a little short on time, but is there, you know, anything else coming up over the next couple of weeks? I mean, June, you know, it’s, it’s finally great weather, got the ropes course, the disc golf courses, um, Father’s Day is coming up at the end of the month, you know, so a lot of great stuff to, you know, great activities to bring Dad out for. Uh, anything else going on up on, on Greek Peak that you want to mention?
Jon Spaulding: Yeah, I, I would encourage anyone who, uh, wants to do something special for Father’s Day, uh, come out for brunch at, uh, Trax between 10:00 and 1:00, and then, uh, you know, get Dad out on a sky tour chairlift ride. That, you know, it’s a great experience to go up to the top of the mountain back, see it in a different way without the snow on the trails, you know. It’s just something really unique to do. And of course, uh, special midweek rates going on right now at Cascades Indoor Waterpark. So, uh, even when it gets sunny, uh, or rainy out, uh, it’s 84 degrees year-round at, uh, Cascades. So I would encourage everyone to, uh, check that out as well, and the special midweek rates we got going.
John Harrison: Yeah, all right. Well, folks, you heard it here first. You know, there’s a ton of great stuff going on up at Greek Peak. I mean, year-round, that’s why we’re, we’re continuing the podcast even once the snow is all melted. Uh, so get on up there, head on up to Greek Peak Mountain Resort, and, uh, have a, have a grand old time. Enjoy the sun, too, you know. It’s, it’s so beautiful outside. Don’t stay cooped up for the summer. Uh, get on up there and, and enjoy some stuff. Well, Jon, thanks so much for joining me this week.
Jon Spaulding: Hey, thanks again, John.
John Harrison: Yeah, of course. And for everyone listening at home, it’s been another edition of Peak at the Peak, on X101.
