Greek Peak Mountain Resort is taking part in the “I AM a Snowmaker” video contest by Ski Area Management (SAM) Magazine and HKD Snowmakers. Greek Peak is one of eight ski resorts in North America competing this year. The theme for this year’s competition is a “day in the life” video which can capture the hard work and dedication of the snowmaking team and how snowmakers’ contributions help with the success of the mountain.
At Greek Peak, there are 24 workers who play a role in creating and maintaining the ski slopes during the winter season. Greek Peak says their combined experience and knowledge is over 65 years and is essential in ensuring consistent snow coverage, even in the challenging weather conditions.
“The technological advances in snowmaking have been significant since I was out on the mountain with the team, but without question, snowmakers are the heart and soul of our snow sports operation,” said President of Greek Peak Mountain Resort, Wes Kryger, who took part in snowmaking back in the later 1970s.
“To be selected for this year’s competition speak volumes to the advancements we have made in our own snow-making efforts over the past several years and is something the entire Greek Peak team and our guests can take great pride in.” Kryger continued.
The winning team will be hosted by HKD at their Canadian Headquarters in Quebec City, Quebec, for two days of both educational and entertainment. Winners will also be given the opportunity to experience HKD’s best selling products and learn more on how to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and safely operate HKD equipment.
