Correction: The original story reported the Cornell Cooperative Extension received funding through the USDA. The funding for CCE is through NYS AG & Markets.

In an effort to expand the Farm to School programming in Cortland County, the United States Department of Agriculture has awarded a grant to the Seven Valleys Health Coalition.

The grant awarded to the Seven Valleys Health Coalition, an amount of $50,000, will go towards increasing the amount of food sourced locally to be used in Cortland County school cafeterias and agricultural education. This will be a continuation of the efforts that started in 2018.

In addition, a 2022 New York State Farm to School Grant via NYS AG & Markets has been awarded to CCE Cortland for an amount of $99,871. These funds, in collaboration with several other CNY region organizations, will be used to identify, assess, and develop producer and community readiness to engage in Farm-to-School activities throughout the entire CNY food shed. CCE Cortland will be leading this collaborative effort.
