Mark Farner, the legendary frontman and founding guitarist for Grand Funk Railroad, has announced his initial 2016 tour dates. Farner wrote and sang the majority of Grand Funk’s material, including the classics “I’m Your Captain (Closer To Home)” “Are You Ready,” and “Footstompin’ Music,” among many others. Farner kicks things off on March 5th at Imokolee, Florida’s Seminole Imokolee Casino and has shows running through August 13th when he hits the East Coast Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Little Orleans, Maryland.
For his Texas stops in The Woodlands and Greenville, fans are getting lucky with a trio of rare acoustic shows by Farner, who usually brings the power with his full band.
Mark Farner told us that these days, he’s sadly resigned to see footage of his shows popping up online — either as illegal downloads or as uploaded videos with amateur quality: “People are gonna try to, and they do, bootleg things — y’know, digital record, or they’ll have a camera in their cap, or something, and there’s all kinds of things that are available on me that you wouldn’t believe, (laughs) that were never intended to be recorded, or I didn’t even know anything about the recording of them, let’s put it that way. So the bootleg stuff is pretty popular.”
