Governor Hochul Seeks to Expand Green Energy

Additional large-scale renewable energy projects of 2,000 megawatts or more are being sought by New York State. Under terms of the measure, the projects must at least be able to power 600,000 New York homes and maintain state-contracted opportunities for private renewable energy developers. This latest round of competitive solicitation by New York’s is expected to provide 2,000 jobs and help stimulate nearly $3 billion investment in clean energy investments.



“Renewable energy is the backbone of New York’s sweeping approach to cleaning our electric grid and offers the industry a reliable path to join in our clean energy transition for the benefit of all New Yorkers”, said Gov. Kathy Hochul.

The move aids in the Empire State’s ultimate goal of having 70 percent of electricity statewide come from renewable sources by 2030.
