Governor Hochul Launches Statewide Distribution of Limited-Edition I LOVE NY in Preparation for Solar Eclipse

Governor Kathy Hochul has initiated a comprehensive effort to safeguard New Yorkers ahead of the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8th. The distribution of limited-edition I LOVE NY eclipse glasses will be at 30 locations across the state, including New York State Welcome Centers and select service areas along the NYS Thruway.

In anticipation of the celestial event, Governor Hochul advises caution against scams, fake merchandise, and phony accommodation listings targeting stargazers. The campaign extends the ongoing I LOVE NY Eclipse Safety Awareness initiative, emphasizing proper viewing practices and ensuring access to certified eye protection.

The eclipse, spanning the western and northern regions of New York State, will occur on April 8th, with the path of totality passing through cities such as Jamestown, Buffalo, and Rochester. The state encourages residents and visitors to obtain eclipse glasses from authorized distribution points to prevent eye damage.

The New York Department of State’s Division of Consumer Protection offers guidelines to safeguard against potential scams associated with the eclipse, emphasizing the importance of research and vigilance.
