Matt Brooks: Good morning, I’m Matt Brooks on X101 Always Classic in for another edition of Happening in Homer, and with me on the line is Village of Homer DPW Superintendent Phil Stockton. Thank you for joining me this morning.
Phil Stockton: Yeah, thanks, Matt.
Matt Brooks: All right, well, we got a couple things to talk about because it is officially Fall in Central New York, which means the leaves are already starting to fall, but definitely going to be more as the Fall season progresses, and that means we’re going to have leaf and branch pickup starting soon.
Phil Stockton: Yes, sir. We’re going to start that. South side will be started October 1st for the first couple weeks, and then from the 15th on will be the North end.
Matt Brooks: When we talk about leaf and branch pickup, I mean, there’re rules that need to be followed, or because we have that newer machine that helps just suck them right up.
Phil Stockton: Yeah, we would prefer no branches at all, and you can put garden matter and leaves together. It’ll suck both of them up, but just please keep the branches and your garden matter and leaves separated, please.
Matt Brooks: And is there any specific place? I mean, we got to keep them off the road, right?
Phil Stockton: Yes, right on the edge of the road is fine.
Matt Brooks: Now, not only do we have leaves falling on the ground, but we also have another Amnesty Day. We had one this Spring, there’s going to be one coming up in the Fall as well. Do we have any more information on when and what we can bring to that Amnesty Day?
Phil Stockton: Yep. This year it’ll be October 17th. I do believe it’s from 8:00 to 3:00 for the day. No products that have refrigerant, and if they do, they have to be red tagged.
Matt Brooks: Yep, so you got to make sure that you have that official tag if you’re going to be bringing that over.
Phil Stockton: And no tires, please.
Matt Brooks: All right, no tires, nothing with refrigerant unless there’s a tag on it. And before people get in line and then forget their ID or whatever, what kind of identification, just because this is for only village residents?
Phil Stockton: Yes, basically just your driver’s license usually. And it’ll be right out in the front, just like we’ve done the last couple years. It worked out real well here. Come to the front of the DPW and a police officer will meet you there and let you through, two or three cars at a time.
Matt Brooks: We are running a little bit out of time though, Phil. If anybody has questions about the leaf pickup or Amnesty Day, where should they direct their attention to?
Phil Stockton: Yep, you can call right here at the DPW at 607-749-3813. If nobody answers, we have an answer machine. It will be checked.
Matt Brooks: Sounds good. Well, again, thank you for your time, Phil, and hope you enjoy the start of Fall!
Phil Stockton: All right. Well, thanks, Matt. Appreciate it.
Matt Brooks: And this is X101 Always Classic. I’m Matt Brooks.
