Gas prices have reached an average of $3.99 a gallon nationally. For New York however, the average price for a gallon remains above $4 dollars at $4.38.
It is the first time since March that the national average has dropped below $4 dollars a gallon. Demand has increased for gas, but remains well below the demand this time last year. Gas prices are expected to continue to decrease and New York will see prices below the $4 dollar mark by mid August thanks to low prices in oil.
Currently, the average price for a gallon of gas in Cortland County is at $4.40. Some stations in the county are well below this average with prices at $4.19 per gallon.
