A cool off is not in the forecast for gas prices throughout the country as last week’s surprise news from OPEC on reducing oil production could lead gas prices back to the $4 mark in parts of the state.
According to AAA, prices are up about 7 cents per gallon throughout the state to an average of $3.54 per gallon, the current national average is slightly higher at $3.60 a gallon. Oil prices remain high and are expected to increase come the month of May, when OPEC’s production cut is to begin.
Cortland County average gas prices are right on point with the state average, at $3.54 per gallon.
Prices will continue to rise as gas demand increases as the weather continues to improve and traveling increases.
