Gas prices have continued their slow decrease in spite of over 43 million Americans traveling for the Fourth of July Holiday, according to AAA.
Nationally, prices have dropped by 3 cents for a national average of $3.54 a gallon. For New York, the average is down just a penny, to $3.68 a gallon.
The Cortland area remains nearly the same as it has been the past few weeks, with a county average at $3.64 a gallon.
AAA reports prices have been able to remain low even with record demand due to low oil prices. This time last year, motorists were spending an average of $4.80 a gallon for gas.
