AAA says gas prices remain mostly stagnant evening though the cost of oil pushes towards $90 a barrel. The current New York State average stands at $3.89 a gallon, just one cent less than what it was this time last year.

Data from the Energy Information Administration has shown demand for gas slightly increasing from 9.07 to 9.32 barrels per day last week. AAA warns though the overall supply for gas is down, oil prices are increasing, and hurricane season remains a threat for Gulf Coast oil and gas production. All of which could raise the price at the pump.

For Cortland County, the county average stands slightly lower than the state average at $3.86 a gallon. Neighboring Tompkins County currently has an average of $3.90 a gallon.
