Gas Prices Look to Rise Towards End of Year

The downward trend for gas prices may be coming to an end, according to AAA. Prices rose nationally over the past week to an average of $3.13 a gallon, this time last year the average was $3.10 nationally.

Prices rose after a record number of Americans traveled 50 miles or more from their home during the holiday, nearly 104 million Americans. In addition to record travel, oil prices creeped back up towards $80 a barrel.

For New York State, the state average stood at $3.38 a gallon, this time last year the average price was $3.42. In Cortland County, prices are right at the national average mark of $3.13 a gallon.
